Poem 170: Human Lives, not a Political Party

Poem 170: Human Lives, not a Political Party

Human lives have no party affiliations
& ignoring the people that made you is evil
The sun shines on all of us as a celestial monitor,
But the end would be cruel for those who represent the devil

Politics is like a mad dog
Without the right vaccines, it bites at random
The lives of the people is not hot dog
To be rolled up and burnt in oven like shawarma.

To be elected is not to be empowered
But to serve & become useful to the people
To be elected is to be entrusted
Never betray the trust & act without wisdom.

We’re first humans before party affiliations
Don’t brandish the political identity
& segregate with security begging for libations
We deserve more; we deserve leaders with the right ability.

Human lives have no party affiliations
Enough of politics; enough of killings
There’s no trophy anywhere in this commotion
Secure lives & property of Nigerians – this is the real CHANGE.

Poem 140 – Demo-N-cracy

Poem 140 – Demo-N-cracy

Every good thing must
Have its replica somewhere
Sipping the fresh juice of mischief
& enjoying evil fresh air.

Literacy has done us well,
But illiteracy has served us hell
While leaving us in the dark groping
For the right way yet we keep walking.

Sycophants aggregate like hungry flies
As manifestoes are buttered with lies
& gullible youths clap away their tomorrow
While we await economic pains in our marrow.

The nation is not at peace
As lives threatened are never at ease.
Peaceful minds have long departed
& pure minds have been corrupted.

The democracy we seek
Is not one that’s terribly sick
Nor that which celebrates propaganda
& adorned with a bogus change agenda.

We’re all responsible for change
& I charge you to truly change.
Change your ways & value what you speak
For slogans are nothing if we’re weak.

Democracy day is what we celebrate today,
But Demo-N-cracy reigns supreme every day.

Poem 123- They Lied

Poem 123- They Lied

Fairy tales are better told
In a land where happiness
Is paramount
But lies are margarine
Spread on make beliefs
Where hopes are heightened.

They lied to us
When Dollar was ridiculed
They lied to us
With employment opportunities
They lied to us
With the monotonous jingle called CHANGE.

No bird perches on a tree twice
Where stones were hurled at it
We are now wise
Because we’ve felt the economic heat
& no more will deceit get to us
For power belongs to us.

Lies have no alternatives –
For tomorrow is tainted
Without hope like dried leaves
We now know because we’re acquainted
Our knowledge is power & we’ll use this
To secure our land, & bring back the exiled peace.

They lied to us
& they must apologize to us.
Should we put this to vote?
We need the real CHANGE
We have a sick government
With a leader who thrives on propaganda
We need the truth
We deserve the truth
& unbiased apologies for the lies.

Poem 111 – Helmsman & Herdsmen

Poem 111 – Helmsman & Herdsmen

Helmsman tame the herdsmen—
Tell them that their time is already up,
Tell them to give up arms,
For we cannot loose our lives & villages again
So many heads now suffer in pain
Leaving a community with litany of woes

Why should herds live in peace
& heads are meant to live in pieces?
Why should security become obscurity
In a nation where corruption is an anthem?
Should we blow the beagle for incompetence?
Should we brand this an act of gross negligence?

Why should insurgence threaten us
& our territorial intelligence goes into slumber?
Why should we celebrate relapse success,
When insecurity ravage the land like locust?
There’s always a place where we dance
& our farmlands are not battle field by chance.

Helmsman, are you truly in charge?
All I hear are herdsmen assault discharge
Leaving numbers lifeless with ocean of blood
Human life is nothing like debris looking helpless in flood.
Benue is wailing beyond lamenting
Bodies lie helpless eliciting congregational crying.

Poem 107 – A Preyer’s Oath

Poem 107 – A Preyer’s Oath

Give me another vote
& I will perform that task
Even as I take this oath.
My first term maybe full of mask,
I pray you give me another chance
& this time I will perform like a solid lance.

Forget the past
Let’s forge another path.
Fly not my flag at half mast
For I will respect the bargain, my own part.
This equation must not turn out this way
For I have a plan to show you another way.

Come in your number
Show forth your allegiance
I will no longer be a gobbler
I pray you give me another chance.
Is this too much to ask?
I promise this time to perform my task.

This is my humble thought
Never to be tucked away in a coat
But a promise that we fight like a hard nut
These are not mine to say, but a preyer’s oath.

A Preyer’s Oath

Poem 105 – Lies are Fairy tales

Poem 105 – Lies are Fairy tales

My ears always twitch
When I hear things that are untrue.
Do I possess the spirit of a witch
Or I am an ambassador coming through.

My ears are romantic friends to the truth
Processing information for greater peace.
How come people abhor truth at its root
& give prominence to every piss?

Lies are like fairy tales,
Full of imaginations appearing real.
They become bogus like whales,
But when punctured, how does she feel?

Patriots are called wailers
Lackeys are called allies.
We’re developmental wheels not spoilers
Who will speak down incompetence at rallies.

The truth is the enemy of lies
& everyone is aware even the flies.
Here am I waiting to hear with my ears
As I hope to drown all my fears.

This lie has done its time
Truth must reign never to be gagged
This is our moment & time
& we cannot be cowed.

Poem 101-Buttered Lies

Poem 101-Buttered Lies

Sycophancy is not a proof of acceptance

& political statements everywhere

Are not genuine repentance

We’re not renegades, but we deserve fresh air.

A popular jingle is trending

Late minute romance is the bride of the day

We know what they are thinking

For our bread was stolen yesterday.

If one says things have fallen apart

Counter statements come and call it hate

Are we meant to follow this path?

Are we simply here because of fate?

My thoughts are revolting in my head

But my ink speaks volume with mere strong words

Promises were showered over our head

But lies are now butter over their words.

When lies become the object of trade,

Integrity becomes a question mark in public.

When promises like mirage appear and fade,

Victims throw vituperations to their music.

Which way are we heading?

Where is governance if truth has travelled?

Should we continue dancing & singing?

Should we wait until our value system is crumbled?

Poem 13-Litany of Pretence

Poem 13-Litany of Pretence

The mouth is just a tool
And her words can kill too
No man should be seen as a fool,
But over here we’re regarded as items too.

We speak against one another with great concern
We play politics with the lives of our people
We keep quiet in the face of danger without concern
When shall we regard our people.

From dusk to dawn we hear of tales
Coming forth from our people
Fighting over nothing and raining bloody hails
And we turn to them for votes with ripple

For how long should we sit on the fence?
How long should we trade pretence?
We’re not united as a people
We’re not walking and working to save our people.

The mouth is just a tool
And no man is a fool.
We’re taking stock with time
And our own song will trend with time.

You speak of peace
And shake us with piss.
You ask for unity
But your action is not for amity.

We’re here to bear our loss
And this song we will sing no more.
Mayhem is not an issue to gloss
The tool should speak more.

We’re humans and deserve respect
No animal is more important than our respect
The world is watching keenly
The comments are coming openly
This is pretence and not unity
This is hemoclysm laden with calamity.
