New Book Alert! Ozoemena

Ozoemena: The Origin of a Message and the Messenger

Every word ever written by a man as a story, an essay, a memoir or any other creative piece that eventually became a public meal for digestion is a prayer answered. Every prayer like a message, a sacrifice, an oblation in the mind of the messenger, the writer, must first speak in his/her subconscious before talking to the public positively in order to educate and direct them in areas where they have fallen short.

Every message has an origin and Ozoemena chant in vivid verses is not an exception. Like yesterday, precisely on the 19th February, 2016, I wrote a piece entitled, ‘ The Land of the Rising Sun,’ while trying to design a logo with my pen. The idea soon raged in my mind begging for a collection and one thing led to another until early February 2020, precisely 18th, the muse returned while giving me sleepless nights and here we are.

The book, Ozoemena, which eventually became a collection in the process of rigorous thought and self meditation will speak to every part of your subconscious and humanity, it will challenge your mind through a process and will never leave you the same way it met you but certainly as a better person through transformation. As you journey with me through the pages of this incredible book of meditation, you will discover the power in words and why the weeping of a people so marginalized and subjugated by deceit in form of a rancid note must stop. The music of unity appealing to the ear presently is riddled with cosmetic love and cacophony of lies.

Ozoemena is the music from my heart playing with a bag full of pain while saying that there should be no more weeping. For the memory is the armory that keeps remembrance in check and keeps the fire of identity burning for greater impact.

Poem 185- Depression

Poem 185- Depression

She’s a great nation,
But don’t get excited now.
She was born in 1960
With unlimited opportunities to prosper,
But caution was thrown to the wind
As she fought against herself.

Without advice, she went to war
Destroying everything that made her great
And a seed of discord was sown
Growing into maturity to haunt everyone.
We’re no longer one except on paper
Even children sing this song forever.
How can you build a better tomorrow
If our hearts are laden with hatred from yesterday’s sorrow?

Bitterness has taken over
As death toll increase like cow dungs.
Should we remain in fear forever
And still plant brotherly embrace on each other?
This time comes with bitter feelings
And the land needs healing for reorganization.

The time for reconciliation is not a song
And the political handshake should be open
People have suffered all forms of oppression
And the land is suffering from depression.

Poem 179- Book of Blood (Chapter 2)

Poem 179- Book of Blood (Chapter 2)

There’s a book we all sought for,

A book where impunity is grossly highlighted

A book unknown to many even the poor

Even though death rages and humans are ignited

There’s so much blood in the land

And none has been apprehended from the book

There’s death knell complementing the horrible band

Trumpeting from afar, as thousands struggle to get off this hook!

Why do people die every day

And no bold step to stop this common ritual?

Why do we still wake up with tales of death like yesterday

And lame excuses are given for deaths that are unnatural.

The grasses are no longer green,

But the chants for re-election is at apogee

There’s no room for any silly grin

When the souls of our wives and children rise like smoky tea.

Our suffrage is experiencing an attack

As blood flows like the Niger

There’s a terrestrial shark

Hunting for the blood of supposed brothers

Our freedom is expensive

Security of lives is just a fairy tale

Situations are unpalatable and offensive

But leadership crave for praises to sail…

There’s a book of blood

And events unfolding are odd.
